Grants to Organisations

Employment Support Marlborough Trust (ESMT) makes grants to organisations that are involved in supporting and/or training people in or into employment and are based in Marlborough.

Reason for Grants
To promote and assist the development of employment skills within Marlborough by assisting organisations involved in supporting and/or training, in or into employment, people who have a real need and desire to improve their employment skills and qualifications and who face barriers that may include financial ones.

What the Grants are for
ESMT awards grants which applicants need to achieve their goals. Grants are awarded for tools, fees, training, programmes or projects. There is an expectation that funds are unable to be obtained from any other source.

Applicants must meet ESMT’s criteria. In all cases a written application is required with the following information:

  1. Name of organisation
  2. Type of organisation (e.g. incorporated society, trust, other)
  3. Aims or purpose of organisation

  5. The organisation’s financial position and its needs for the grant
  6. Description of project/programme
  7. Who will benefit
  8. How they will benefit
  9. How much funding is sought and why (including a statement of costings)
  10. If funding sought does not cover the full costs of the project/programme please explain how the rest of the funding will be obtained
  11. Any other information you think may be relevant
  12. The application must be signed by an authorised officer of your organisation

The Trust may ask you to make a personal presentation to trustees at one of our monthly meetings.

Grants may be in respect of:

  • Individual persons under the auspices of the organisation, or
  • Groups of participants, or
  • General funding needs for establishing or continuing programmes or projects being undertaken by the organisation

Grants to organisations for individuals or groups of individuals may be up to $1,500.00 per individual.

If your organisation’s application is in respect of an individual or individuals please ensure each individual completes the Sponsored Individuals Application Form (SIAF) and submit these with the organisation’s application. Also, they must show that the people they are supporting and/or training suffer from barriers that may include financial ones which may prevent them from achieving their employment goals.

If, however, the application is enable a group of participants to engage in the same programme or project please state this. In these cases, you may omit the individual SIAFs and instead describe how the programme or project as a whole meets the ESMT’s criteria including those regarding barriers.

If the application is in respect of establishing or continuing your organisation’s programmes or projects please set out how your organisation will meet the objectives of supporting employment initiatives and opportunities and of addressing the needs of people in Marlborough who face barriers to:

  • attaining employment, or
  • attaining better employment, or
  • attaining self-employment

The awarding of grants under this scheme (including the amount of any grant) is at at the sole discretion of the trustees of ESMT and no right of appeal shall be available to any applicant. ESMT may make enquiries it may deem relevant of any person or organisation in connection with an application. All information supplied to ESMT and its trustees will be kept confidential. Each application will be treated as a one-off. If it is successful this does not imply that any subsequent application for a grant will also be successful.
